NAGGA is the acronym for Neighbors Against Grievous Government Actions
The Neighbors Against Grievous Government Actions (NAGGA) gate is a powerful symbol of unity and resilience, represented by its multi-colored planks. Each color on the gate holds significant meaning, reflecting the diverse communities that have faced and continue to face injustices.
Red Plank: This plank represents Native Americans, who were the first to suffer under illegal, immoral, and unconstitutional government actions. Their struggles and resilience are a foundational part of the gate's symbolism.
Yellow Plank: The yellow plank symbolizes the sacrifices made by Asian Americans, particularly their contributions to linking the country by railway. During World War II, many Asian Americans were unjustly jailed as enemies of the state, highlighting their enduring fight against discrimination.
White Plank: This plank stands for poor whites and Jews, who have also faced significant hardships and discrimination. Their inclusion in the gate underscores the universal nature of suffering under grievous government actions.
Brown Plank: Representing Hispanics, the brown plank acknowledges the immense challenges faced by this community, which is soon to become the majority in the U.S. Their struggles under the law are a critical part of the gate's narrative.
Black Plank: The black plank represents Black Americans, whose suffering has been exceedingly great. This plank lies diagonally, linking all the other planks together, symbolizing the collective effort to overcome past injustices and build a better future.
The NAGGA gate is more than just a symbol; it is a call to action and a beacon of hope for future generations. It invites all to enter for a common good, emphasizing the importance of unity and collective action in the face of governmental harm.
